Workshops

1. One day Workshop/course. One-to-one*

Venue, The Ruskin Glass Centre, Stourbridge. DY8 4HF

In this one-day, one-to-one workshop you will learn the skills of how to sharpen a plane iron and chisels, (one of my planes and chisels or bring your own).
We will then move on to planing a piece of timber, getting it square, to then learn how to create a couple of joints used in furniture making. The workshop can be tailored to you skill level as we go along, whether you wish to try out several joints or strive to perfect one or two particular joints.
An informal and relaxed session where I will be going through the same process, but just in front of you. The day will include tips and advice and give you the confidence and skills to use these tools and move on to build your own pieces.
If you would like to bring your new tools and get them set up, or old tools that need a little attention, please feel free to bring them along. If time allows, we could get them ready for use and you could use them on the day.
Safety – Providing your own sensible footwear is essential, no open toe shoes or soft trainers. All other safety protective equipment and materials, will be supplied.

*Bring along a partner or friend and get second person half price.
No experience necessary.

2. Evening workshops Wed & Thurs 1800 - 2100hrs.

Venue same as above at The Ruskin Glass Centre, Stourbridge. DY8 4HF
This is just what people are asking me for... and that's why its here. The relaxed atmosphere.. bring your own mug.. that's how I want these evenings to be, bring tea, coffee, biscuits and cakes, bring whatever (within reason) it takes to help you relax and enjoy an evening of woodworking.
You get to decide what you want to make, learn, hone a skill. Make whatever you want and get the help of a professional woodworker to ease your way through the job.
And while you're making, Jamie is working on something that will at some point be the topic of the evening or a future evening. There's always an eye on what's going on in the workshop so help is always there. Discussing tools, timber, bench practice, sharpening, clamping.. there's always something going on.

The best of all worlds, you have a tutor, an advisor, a designer, a maker, a machinist, a cabinet maker all on tap. There is a maximum of four persons per night. This is a weekly workshop that rolls over every month. Some images are used on Social media to promote the workshops and the work that I do. You might even have found this workshop by seeing or being told about #WoodworkingSocial all images used are with consent of those around at the time. No experience necessary.
